Daily Prompt: It’s my morning

15 Dec

What’s your ideal Saturday morning? Are you doing those things this morning? Why not?

Before I start with this post, I really need to know if 11a.m. is still considered morning in this world!

Anyways, the most important part is getting up without an alarm! Without the feeling that I’m nothing more than a drone working to earn and earning to continue working. Without the everyday hussle-bussle. In short, wake up when you know you’ve slept as much as you wanted to. Lazy me!

Then comes my morning tea. If you’ve read this before you know, I’m a tea fan! And I hate to have a cup of tea and having to rush to finish as if it’s some school project. I Want to sit in my balcony and enjoy the aroma, flavour and bliss in every sip of tea that goes down my throat. Some holidays, I also like to put on some peppy sunshine music alongwith. Oh that makes my Day!

Then comes a lazy noon bath! I pamper my body with warm water and oils and take care of every ounce of my skin. Exfoliation, massage, or just playing with water, I like to spend an hour in this. (What else do you expect! I am a Piscean 😉 ).

And If I get a beautiful book to read after this, that’s like a cherry on top!

This defines pretty much my perfect morning. But before I close this, I’d like to mention what is supposed to stay away from me on a perfect morning.

  • Newspaper: If you wanna have a beautiful day ahead, who wants to wake upto the news of who died, how our country is doomed and everything gruesome possible.
  • People: I don’t like to have any company unless it’s peaceful, oblivious and non existent.
  • Haste: I hate to rush!

And yes, I am fortunate enough to enjoy such a morning nowadays! Touch wood!

🙂

The power of colours

29 Aug

Before I start this post I want to make it really clear that it’s not about some kind of colour therapy (if such a thing exists). Nor is it the conclusion of any scientific or educational research. This post is only a simple exercise and observation I applied to myself.

I did this some two and a half years ago. My then boyfriend and I had been fighting a lot. And most of my time was usually consumed in either fighting or fixing those fights. Plus I had some exams drawing closer. In total I was so stressed and occupied all the time that I was turning monotonous, rather more monotonous. But one morning I had this awful realisation that I’m turning old without traversing through my youth! So, I purposefully decided to start some changes. The simplest, easiest and most effective of those was picking up a different colour to wear every day of the week. I made it a point to not repeat the same colour in my dress within a span of seven days. I would wear scarlet reds and dusty browns. While some days I will looked as oddly bright as a parakeet, on others I was as invisible in the crowd as air. I remember wearing a turmeric t-shirt, rusty grey trousers and an algae green kurti in that duration (Of course not all at the same time!). Colours, I would have never worn otherwise. Clothes, that slept in my wardrobe since almost ages. Badly shopped ones, disgusting gifted ones, picked by mother kind of dresses. I wore all of it.

The result of my exercise was unexpected everyday. One morning I would be hoarding compliments, the next they will all be criticisms. “Where did you get that?” This was said both with awe and repulsion. Some just mentioned, “What has been going on with you lately?” The responses were flocking in also because I was normally dressed in almost the same colour spectrum. I was more into whites and creams and pale peach.

The point of the whole story is that that week was surprising. I felt a difference in the energies of universe everyday. Those colours brought a simple change in perspective because wearing the same colours somehow makes you dull, dreary and lifeless or may be vice versa. I don’t know how. But wearing grassy green made me feel not the same as wearing carroty orange. That change was a therapy in itself. It took me to the faith that pinks actually make world romantic and yellow really brings happiness. Purple can make you feel glamourous and red seductive. Colours really have that power. Just give them a chance.

Wear different colours this week! May be you get to notice a happy change!

Be A Toad!

14 Jul

Common Toad
(I don’t own the image. Its from internet.)

Its still dark when i reach my running track in the morning. And there are lots of toads hopping around. For the obvious reason i have to keep my eyes where my feet go until sun comes up. It was annoying till a day before when i took some time out to observe these classified-hideous beings. But after my serious observation i will highly recommend you to be a toad. Why? Keep reading.

  1. ACCEPT WHAT YOU ARE. The world says they are ugly. Well, So what!! They are what they are.
  2. IF YOU HAVE LESS, USE IT MORE. If God has given you less abilities use them more effectively and ardently. As for a toad, what if it can not sing it croaks without hesitation.
  3. BE UNPREDICTABLE. It is my personal observation that a toad doesn’t walk in a straight line. Well so shouldn’t you! Be unpredictable and surprise the world.
  4. DEFENCE MORE IMPORTANT THAN ATTACK. Toad has strong but short hind legs, making it a less of a predator and more of a safe player. When it hops it knows it is strong enough to bear that fall. So before attacking have a safety measure.
  5. SPECIAL TIP JUST FOR GUYS. Guys, carry your girls on your back. They love it. 😉

Big Lessons in Tiny Pleasures: Part 1

Big Lessons in Tiny Pleasures: Part 1

I am a Tea drinker, Tea Admirer, Tea Lover, Tea Connoisseur & Tea Fanatic.
I want tea to wake me up in the morning. I need tea as a break from studies. I need tea to share a soulful conversation with someone. I need tea with snacks. I just NEED tea.
So, Its 3.00 am. Am still not very awake and freshening mouthwash couldn’t wake me up either. What could? A cup of Tea, just the way I like it!
As it boiled and pigmented, I observed it and realised it was trying to say something. I listened and now am sharing with you.

1. Every success is achieved in steps.
As I start making tea with just plain water, I realise a good cup of tea should be made by boiling tea to its most then adding milk and then a flavour of your choice. It doesn’t work the other way around. You can’t just add all the ingredients, bring it to a boil and pour. That sure will make a tea but not THE TEA.

2.Have patience.
If you raise the flame and bring it to a boil in like 1min and get it over with, believe me it will BE OVER. Let it boil on the lowest flame for some time. Only then will you get the aroma and the flavour.

3. Toil & Boil Hard.
A good cup of tea is the one that has boiled hard enough to fill the kitchen with its aroma.
So, if you want that perfect cup, then let it boil.

4. Add Your touch.
Whatever you do, do it your way. I add a pinch of cinnamon. My Dad replaces jaggery for sugar. Mom prefers gingered tea. Granny loves it minty. And My uncle wants it with lemon sans milk. So, If you want it to be called yours, make it yours.

5. Practice is inevitable.
I remember having made and spoiled tea innumerable times before I could actually make it with my eyes closed. So if you want to be good at something, Practise it!

Aaah! Its ready. My elixir. My milk tea with a hint of cinnamon. Just the way I like it!
P.S.: The picture is not mine. I Image googled milk tea. 😛
